The procedure begins by stimulating the female ovaries to produce multiple eggs with the help of hormonal injections. Ideally, about 15 eggs are collected after this process during ovum pick-up. A sperm sample is taken from the partner, and the washed sperm is used to fertilise the egg. The resultant embryo is implanted in the uterus; laser-assisted hatching technique may be used to aid the same. Donor eggs may also be used in case the female patient’s reserve is depleted.

Collected eggs and washed sperms are placed in a petri dish and monitored for fertilisation. Once the resultant embryo reaches the blastocyst stage, they are transferred into the uterus.
