IUI versus IVF - Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) vs. IVF, IVF treatment, IUI treatment, infertility treatment IUI, IVF, In Vitro Fertilization, Best IUI and IVF treatment
iui versus ivf : While approaching an IVF specialist in order to conceive baby, infertile couples come across several options through which they can achieve their goal. These include IUI, IVF and surrogacy. People wishing to carry their child and avoid using a surrogate get to choose between IVF and IUI. But here comes the big dilemma which procedure to choose?
Several questions bombard their minds. Which procedure will be better? Which one has a higher success rate? Which one is more affordable?, etc. So how does one decide which method is better? The answer to that is by knowing what exactly each of these methods entails.
IUI
IUI is the acronym for Intrauterine Insemination. It involves the direct injecting a female’s uterus with her male partner’s sperms. The steps that constitute IUI versus ivf are as follows:
After flowing into the uterus, the sperms fuse with an ovum to form an embryo and pregnancy occurs. A large amount of sperms are directly injected into the uterus to elevate the chances of pregnancy.
Typically, IUI is conducted at the time of ovulation. The most appropriate time for the procedure is around a day before or the same day when ovulation starts. If two IUI’s are scheduled then they are usually spaced atleast 24 hours apart.
Albeit, IUI is a pretty painless and short procedure, but like any other medical procedure, it too has its own set of pros and cons.
Since multiple sperms are transferred into the uterus, the chances of achieving multiple pregnancies increase. Furthermore, there is also the risk of infection.
IUI is quite a promising process to conceive a child. It is not very costly and there is hardly any discomfort. Other factors on which its success depends include the female’s age, health condition and fertility.
IVF
IVF or IN Vitro Fertilization is the process in which eggs and sperms are extracted from the couple and fused in the lab outside of the body. Once embryos are formed, they are transferred into the female’s womb. If all goes well and the embryo implants itself to the uterine wall or endometrium, pregnancy is attained.
Top IVF specialists from reputed fertility clinics in Delhi assert that even IVF comes with its own baggage.
This procedure is expensive. In addition it asks for a lot of time and trials. Not every couple is lucky enough to be successful in the first try. Furthermore, just like IUI versus IVF, there is considerable chance that it will result in multiple pregnancies that may be dangerous for the babies and the mother.
