Also, PCOS is directly related to female infertility so the treatment will also be based on your desire of getting conceiving. Generally, women need a combination of different treatments to meet the final goal.

Eat healthy food and exercise regularly is the first prescription to all the PCOS patients. Women with PCOS are overweight or obese and losing only 5% of your body weight can help you in getting your periods more regular. Losing a bit of weight can also help you in managing the problems related to blood sugar levels. You’ll also be suggested to add lots of fibers in the form of fruits and vegetables in your daily meal.

Contraceptives:
Oral contraceptives with combined estrogen and progestin are the most commonly used treatment for taming the irregular periods in women with PCOS. This treatment is only for women who don’t want to get pregnant. It also effective in treating hirsutism and acne and reduces the probabilities of uterine cancer. Some women opt for skin patch, vaginal ring or a hormonal UID (intro urine devices) to restore a regular period.

Medication:
Taking hormone called progestin can not only get your periods on track but also reduces the chances of uterine cancer. Metformin also prescribes to lower insulin. This helps a lot in weight loss and prevents diabetes.
