Yes, this is a question which is often being asked by many of friends of Himali and Gaurav (name changed to protect identity). She would always recommend consulting Dr. Jyoti Gupta ( Indira Infertility Clinic and test tube baby centre in Faridabad). Out of the countless unexplained infertility success stories treated by her at the Indira IVF clinic in Faridabad, this was one of the challenging cases and hence very close to her heart.

This is an IVF success story which is based on the real-life experiences of patients and fertility specialists in dealing with unexplained infertility. Himali and her husband Gaurav are composite characters.

Marriage

Himali and Gaurav got married when they were both 35 years old, and they weren’t in a rush to have a family. They both wanted to have some time as a couple and enjoy their marriage. So they used birth control and were relieved when every month her period came around.

After they’d been married a few years, they began to think about starting a family. Both their friends were having babies, and hence they also wanted to have one. They thought the time was right. Both their careers were going well. They felt that a baby would help complete their family. Even Himali’s mother was eager to be a grandmother.

Trying to have a baby

They both were aware what to do to make a baby, have frequent unprotected intercourse. Gaurav was enthusiastic about that, especially at first. But neither one of them really knew how long it might take for Himali to get pregnant, but they were optimistic and knew it wouldn’t take long. When after the first 3 months of trying and not getting pregnant, Himali did some researching. She was shocked to find that fertile couples who didn’t have any fertility problems have only about 20 percent chance of getting pregnant in any given month.

Himali was determined to fight back the odds. She began using an ovulation calendar to help figure out when her fertile periods were so she and Vishal could be sure to have sex at the optimal time to get pregnant. Gaurav quit smoking and they both ate healthy foods and cut back on alcohol.

But Himali began to get worried that something was wrong. Each month she was filled with grief when her period happened, and she started to envy her friends who had gotten pregnant easily. Gaurav tried to comfort her, but she began to feel depressed. Why was it so easy for her friends to get pregnant and so hard for her? Himali dreaded going to baby showers and family gatherings where someone might ask as to when she is going to start her family. Gaurav began to feel angry about the thoughtless comments and questions. And he felt ashamed, as well. What kind of man was he that he couldn’t get his own wife pregnant? They both started to feel isolated from their friends. She felt like she didn’t have any control over her own body.

Searching for Answers

Himali felt that knowing more about fertility problems would help her get some control over the situation, so she did much more research on the internet. She also shared some links with Gaurav about fertility treatment, and they had a long talk.

She wanted to do something now. Gaurav agreed they should look into why they were having trouble having a baby. Then Himali went to her gynaecologist who referred her to the Indira IVF centre in Faridabad. She told them that it is time for them to have some fertility tests done and consult an IVF specialist in Faridabad who is trained to find issues that cause fertility problems and help people have a baby.

Himali felt strongly that she and Gaurav needed to find out what the problem or problems might be, so she could get pregnant. They made an appointment at the fertility clinic, gave their medical histories and went for testing. Gaurav’s tests were a semen analysis to determine the quality and quantity of his sperm and a physical exam. Himali had a physical exam, an ultrasound and a number of blood tests to determine her hormone levels and whether she was ovulating. Himali told her mom they were going for testing but asked her to keep it to herself.

When the test results were ready, Himali and Gaurav had an appointment together with Dr. Pratibha Singh (Indira IVF clinic in Kanpur) one of the best infertility specialists in Kanpur. They were both nervous but hopeful. Maybe there would be a problem with an easy fix, although they weren’t exactly sure what that would be. The answer they got was both good news and bad news.

Unexplained Infertility

Describing unexplained Infertility statistics Dr. Manjula B.C ( Indira IVF centre in Banaglore) said that about one in five of those couples who come to the Indira IVF clinic in Faridabad are diagnosed with unexplained infertility. She said that it simply means that all the available tests could not locate the reason for her infertility.

She said that it is good news since you both don’t have any major reasons for infertility. However, people diagnosed with unexplained infertility may have other, more subtle issues which the current diagnostic testing can’t detect, such as poor egg quality,

Getting pregnant with unexplained infertility

We can go for a few rounds of IUI in unexplained infertility, with and without Clomid, and if that is not successful, then we can consider IVF explained Dr. Puja Rani ( Indira IVF centre in Ranchi).

Being one of the best IVF hospitals in Faridabad, we at the Indira IVF know that, the problems can be found and treated through the IVF process. She also told them about a recent study of couples with unexplained infertility, called FASTT (The Fast Track and Standard Treatment), which showed that couples who are unsuccessful after three cycles of Clomid and intrauterine insemination (IUI) should then try in vitro fertilization (IVF). This study showed a higher success rate at lower cost with IVF after three cycles than with continuing for more cycles of Clomid and IUI explained Dr. Jyoti.

Emotional Event

Gaurav can’t take this as a good news, he said if they did not have any problem why they can’t have a baby without treatment. Himali felt depressed and guilty thought that maybe it was her fault because Gaurav’s test results were fine. Finally, after much deliberation, they decided to go for it.

Success at Last

Himali went through three cycles of IUI with Gaurav’s sperm, one without stimulating her ovaries with Clomid, and two cycles of Clomid. Clomid made her produce multiple eggs, but none of those cycles resulted in a pregnancy.

Fertility

Himali and Gaurav were on a roller coaster of emotion with each cycle, filled with hope and excitement and then sad and grieving when she didn’t get pregnant. Himali’s mother tried very hard to be supportive but couldn’t hide her disappointment. Himali began to feel very depressed and withdrew from Gaurav. Gaurav was angry and frustrated.

Their infertility specialist in Faridabad Indira IVF centre saw their tension and suggested that they get psychological counselling. They met with the counselor at the fertility clinic who helped them feel they weren’t alone with their emotions and supported them as they made treatment decisions.

Their IVF specialist in Faridabad spoke to them about moving on to IVF treatment with PGS, Preimplantation genetic screening.

Dr. Jyoti explained that Indira IVF is one of the best IVF centre in Faridabad is also one of the few IVF centres to have this unique facility. In this process, we will fertilize your eggs with the sperms in the embryology lab and when the embryos start to grow, we will test a few cells from the embryos to make sure they have the correct number of chromosomes, and transfer only the best ones. About half of them fail to implant and most miscarriages are caused by chromosomal abnormalities, whereas PGS improves your chance of success with IVF.

After about two weeks of hormone injections, harvesting of her eggs, and fertilization of the eggs in the lab, their embryos were tested and the best ones were transferred to Himali’s uterus, then after 2 weeks and progesterone injections to help an embryo to implant. Himali went to the fertility clinic for the pregnancy test and came home to await the results.

Finally, they got the good news that Himali got pregnant. Both were thrilled and gave due credit to the Indira IVF clinic in Faridabad and their staff for making their dream come true.
