Semen analysis and blood tests are done to assess the sperm and measure male reproductive potential. In some cases, an ultrasound is also done to check if there are any issues in the testicles.
Blood and urine tests are conducted to see progesterone levels, thyroid function, prolactin level and ovarian reserve.
To see the health of the reproductive organ, ultrasound, sonohysterography, hysterosalpingography, hysteroscopy and laparoscopy may be conducted.
Infertility tests also allows to treat at the same time. For example, a blocked fallopian tube may be opened during a hysterosalpingogram/ hysteroscopy/ laparoscopy.
Once we know the real cause of infertility, an appropriate line of treatment can be taken.
Complicated procedures like hysteroscopy or laparoscopy may post a problem later on.
