One of the primary symptoms linked with female infertility is related to their menstrual cycle. This can include:
- Abnormal periods: Menses that are lighter or heavier than usual, with shorter or longer durations of bleeding
- Irregular periods: The duration between two menstrual cycles vary every month
- Absence of periods: Menarche or the onset of periods did not occur or the abrupt stopping of periods; this can also be due to menopause, including early menopause
- Painful periods: Severe cramping, backache, and pain in the pelvic region
There can be other associated symptoms due to hormonal imbalance in the female body.
- Increased skin breakouts and acne
- Hirsutism or growth of excessive dark/coarse hair on face, chest and back
- Unexplained weight gain
- Change in libido
- Pain during sexual intercourse
- Thinning of hair similar to male pattern baldness
