Did you know that your diet can boost the success rate of your IVF fertility journey? A number of natural remedies can help you in a successful IVF, and a nutrition-rich diet dramatically helps increase the chances of conception. Eating a healthy diet lays the groundwork for a successful IVF. Studies have shown that factors like obesity or very low body-weight can affect the IVF cycle adversely. Making sure that you are getting all the crucial nutrients needed for a healthy pregnancy help keep your weight within optimal range.

Here are some dietary changes you can make to ensure a successful IVF-

  • Load up on fruits and vegetables

Some pro-fertility fruits and vegetables include- Vegetables rich in iron (Leafy greens, such as spinach, kale, swiss chard, collard and beet greens), Vitamin E  (Vegetable oils, nuts, sunflower seeds, green leafy vegetables), Folic Acid (Lentils, dried beans, peas, and nuts, avocado, dark green vegetables, citrus fruit and juice), and Vitamin B6 (fish, bread, wholegrain cereals – such as oatmeal, wheatgerm and brown rice, eggs, vegetables and soya beans). Fruits rich in vitamin C and anti-oxidants such as plums, raisins, blueberries, and pomegranates also have a lot of good effects on your fertility health.

  • Eat lean proteins

Lean proteins help ensure you get sufficient nutrition without affecting your health or weight. Some good sources of lean protein include fish, chicken, eggs, dairy.

  • Make legumes and beans an essential part of your diet

Legumes and beans are good sources of protein, are high in fibre and have a low-fat percentage. They also have good amounts of iron, folate and plenty of other vitamins and minerals. Legumes and beans play a crucial role in developing a good follicle quality necessary for fertility. Some good sources include beans, lentils, chickpeas.

  • Consume healthy fats

Eating healthy fats are essential for the healthy functioning of our different processes in our body, including fertility! Omega-3 fatty acids are good fats which are key for fertility as they help ovulation, and increase blood flow to the reproductive organs. The best sources of omega-3 fatty acids include salmon and sardines. Avocados, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, anchovies, almonds, walnuts, cashews, Brazil Nuts, sesame seeds, organic eggs, organic butter, chia seeds, hemp seeds are other good sources of healthy fats!

  • Switch to low-fat dairy products

  • Part ways with red meat, and highly processed meats

Red meat or other processed meat are said to affect male fertility which may prevent fertilizing the egg in the lab. Red meat mainly includes beef, lamb and pork.

What foods to avoid for a successful IVF?
A wide range of foods and dietary habit can affect your chances of having a successful IVF.
